Acceptance and Commitment Therapy – or ACT, for short – gets it name from one of its core messages: to accept what is out of your personal control, whereas committing to try and do whatever you can do to enhance your quality of life.
We offer Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in our Haywards Heath clinic and on-line. The aim of ACT is to assist individuals create a rich full and purposeful life, while effectively handling the pain and stress that life inevitably brings. It does this by:
1) Teaching you psychological skills to deal with your painful thoughts and feelings effectively – in such a way that they have much less impact and influence over you. (These are known as mindfulness skills.)
