I am an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist, IFS trained therapist and certified Mindfulness teacher. I have held several roles in the NHS and now focus my time in private practice. I specialise in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and interweave mindfulness, grounding and compassion practices into therapy.

I work with people aged 18 years and over. My special interest is in working with people who feel overwhelmed by their emotions, have difficulties in their relationships or feel affected by unresolved experiences from their past. There may have been critical or dismissive parenting, emotional unavailability, bullying, rejection, abandonment or abuse. This may cause difficulties in day to day life at work, in relationships or living a fulfilling and authentic life. The people I work with often experience difficulties with self-criticism, overworking or procrastination, focus on looking after or pleasing others, whilst struggling to look after themselves and masking or minimising their own distress. Sometimes clients have also coped by over-eating, under-eating, over-exercising, self-harming, using drugs and alcohol or numbing/ shutting down in other ways.

I also work with people experiencing depression (single or multiple episodes), anxiety/ panic attacks, social anxiety, low self-esteem, fluctuating moods/ emotional instability, relationship difficulties. Some clients with these difficulties will have past attachment and relational trauma and others will not.

I believe in providing therapy that offers both a safe therapeutic relationship and new skills that enable people to continue benefiting long after the therapy. My aim is to help people work through their difficulties, heal their past and live more in alignment with their values.

My Experience

I have been working therapeutically since 2012, predominantly with adults over the age of 18 with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and attachment or relational trauma. I have worked across the spectrum of complexity from those wishing to increase their wellbeing and find more ease in life, to those with mental health difficulties like anxiety, depression and low self-esteem, and with complex difficulties such as psychosis, bipolar, personality disorder and complex PTSD.

In addition to working with individuals, I have enjoyed facilitating groups based on a range of therapies, including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mentalisation-based Therapy (MBT) for people with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

I trained as a mindfulness teacher during 2020 through Sussex Mindfulness Centre, which is a British Association of Mindfulness-based Approaches (BAMBA) recognised course. I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist. I’ve worked in the NHS since 2008 and started in independent practice in 2021, initially part-time and now working full time in independent practice.

I’ve previously held a clinical leadership role: developing and overseeing the group programme of a large NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service for people with anxiety and depression. This involved leading on the rapid development and implementation of online psycho-educational courses. I have experience of providing supervision, training and consultation.
